Last week, Carolyn Binder scored 29 points for Rye Country Day School in a game against Hamden Hall to surpass the school’s basketball all-time scoring record of 1,497 career points. Binder started on the varsity girls’ basketball team when she was in eighth grade and has helped the Wildcats win two New York State Independent School Championships.
At the Westchester Youth Soccer League yearend dinner, 14 Rye Youth Soccer travel teams won the sportsmanship award in their division. Three Rye teams won their division. Congratulations to the Racers, Wildcats, and Fire. A special acknowledgement goes out to the Gu11 Racers team, which won the Double Goal Coach Award, given out to a team that wins its division and exhibits true sportsmanship.
Dr. Nina Inamdar, who was on the varsity fencing team at Cornell University from 1990-1994, returned to fencing and began epee in 2010. She competed in her first national tournament, the USA Fencing North American Cup, last weekend in Milwaukee, and brought home a bronze medal in the Veteran Women’s 40-49 Epee division.
The Rye resident trains at New Amsterdam Fencing Academy North in Port Chester and does strength training with Rick Mosquera of Rye Body Focus. Dr. Inamdar practices internal medicine and is a partner at Shoreline Medical LLP in Stamford.
