Two RGC Divers Soar at Counties

At the 89th annual Westchester County Swim Association Meet, Rye Golf Club divers Michael Ackert, 13, and Katie Laverty, 12, showed their stuff off the boards.

At the 89th annual Westchester County Swim Association Meet, Rye Golf Club divers Michael Ackert, 13, and Katie Laverty, 12, showed their stuff off the boards. Michael took first place in the 10-13 Boys’ competition and Katie took second in the 10-13 Girls’.

 

Michael scored a 200.5, winning by 42 points. He said his best dive (competitors are scored on a total of five) is the double half-full. Katie scored 175.25, missing first place by only 8.6 points. She said her best is the back flip with 2½ twists.

“They represented Rye Golf Club very well,” said Coach Kathleen Ferguson proudly. She added, “They gave the team a good start, with 17 points.”
