Winifred Theresa Petrelli died peacefully on February 21, 2021 at the age of 94.
Born on January 9, 1927 in New York City, she was the daughter of James and Ellen McMahon. In 1943, Winnie, as she was affectionately called, graduated from St. Joseph’s College for Women in Brooklyn, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology.
In 1950, she married Joseph A. Petrelli. After living briefly in Mt. Vernon, the couple built a home in Valhalla, where they lived for 38 years and raised their family.
A patient and loving mother of five lively children, she always showed great compassion and care for their well-being, education, and the development of their talents. An avid reader, she loved her morning cup of coffee, hot dogs, and a day at the beach.
Mrs. Petrelli was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 2006. She is survived by her children, Joseph (Susan) Petrelli, Maggie (Ted) Duncan, Mary (Paul Davin) Petrelli, James Petrelli, and Susan (Bill) Doran. She was a loving grandmother and blessed with thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A devout Catholic, she was a member of the Church of the Resurrection for over 30 years.
