For over 30 years, a good reason to get up early is an invitation to the Rye Youth Council Awards Breakfast, where outstanding teens are recognized for demonstrating courage, generosity of spirit, commitment to the community, active involvement with a nonprofit organization, and all-around good character.
Guests sat quietly as the presenters described each group’s endeavors and each award recipient’s inspiring and selfless achievements in and out of the classroom. In addition to Rye High and Rye Country Day School faculty and Rye Youth Council board members present and past, there were many parents in the Westminster Room of Rye Presbyterian Church on May 28, who applauded proudly and smiled through tears.
