One school year is about to end, but the Rye YMCA’s 2012-13 After School programs, Kindertime and After School Adventures, are already open for registration.
Kindertime is an afternoon enrichment program designed especially for kindergarteners in the Rye City schools. Children receive swim instruction once a week and sports instruction in the gymnasium twice a week. During the second half of the school year, they receive individualized computer lessons from a specialist.
Kindertime includes transportation to the Y (on short days) from Midland, Milton, and Osborn, and runs from 12-3 p.m. or 12-6:30 p.m.
After School Adventures participants, grades K-6, have the opportunity to swim once a week, play sports, participate in fitness classes like Zumba, and work on homework under the supervision of staff. In the second half of the year, the students choose elective classes like cooking or LEGO creation. The program runs from 3-6:30 p.m. and includes transportation for students attending Rye City elementary schools, as well as Resurrection, Harrison Avenue, Parsons, Daniel Warren, and F.E. Bellows.
