Feeling Those Good Vibrations at Barley Beach House
By Kathleen Durkee
With spring just around the corner and summer not a distant dream, do yourself a favor and take a trip down to Barley Beach House. Perched just above Oakland Beach on the edge of Rye Town Park, Barley’s is now open year–round. Neighbors in the know have been stopping in all winter to enjoy the panoramic Long Island Sound views and great beachside food and drinks, not to mention the live bands twice weekly.
We stopped in for brunch last Sunday and were immediately transported to summer, and not just because the Beach Boys happened to be serenading us as we enjoyed our mimosas and drank in the sparkly water views. Barley’s really does feel like a beach house. Decked out in nautically themed colors and driftwood–inspired woodwork, the atmosphere is light, airy, and fun, and the staff super–friendly. With a generous-sized wraparound bar, and tables positioned along the windows, there is not a bad seat in the house. In a few weeks, the outdoor terrace will be set up for seaside happy hour and dining, and not only that, Barley’s has plans to open up a beach bar downstairs this summer with kid and adult frozen drink machines, as well as a food menu catering to beachgoers and the summer volleyball crowd alike.
There is something for everyone on the Barley Beach House lunch, dinner, and brunch menus, including a variety of tasty appetizers, sandwiches, salads, and entrees – and summertime lobster rolls, too. Bob Marley will not seem far away as you sip any one of the delicious tropical cocktails, craft beers, or wines available during the daily happy hour.
Enjoy some of the best water views in town at Barley Beach House.
Open for lunch and dinner Wednesday through Sunday, starting later this spring Barley’s will be open seven days a week. Barley’s has proven to be a popular venue for all sorts of celebrations and invites you to plan your seaside event with them. Call 481-5505 or visit info@thebarleybeachhouse.com.
