Over 200 volunteers turned out on August 19 to fill a record 2,050 backpacks for Helping Hands for the Homeless & Hungry, Inc.’s annual Mission Backpack Project. Each backpack is filled with 18 brand-new, age-appropriate school supplies and is distributed through a partnership with 19 social service agencies in mid- and lower Westchester County serving children in shelters and from working-poor families.
“Thank you Rye for your ongoing generosity helping fund and volunteer at Mission Backpack. We are humbled by your caring,” said Brigitte Sarnoff, Helping Hands Co-President.
