Finding themselves in a head-to-head match once again, RHS captain Andrew Gladstone and Harrison captain Michael Ditursi, both seniors, golfed against one another in their final high school match of the regular season Thursday at Westchester Country Club.
Rye’s golf team topped the Huskies, 204-218.
The captains went stroke for stroke the whole match. Tied going into the 9th and final hole, Gladstone hit a difficult second shot to 12 feet above the hole and putted the ball in for par.
The match ended Gladstone 37, Ditursi 38.
RHS golf team won the 2012 League Championship with an overall record of 12-3.
Michael Ditursi, who will be playing golf at Rollins College next year, said:
“This is the last match of my high school golf career and it is against one of my best friends on our home course. It couldn’t get better than this!”
Andrew Gladstone, after hitting eight greens in regulation play, reflected, “No rain, challenging winds, playing head-to-head with my lifelong buddy. Today was a perfect transition into the next phase for me, playing at Franklin and Marshall.”
“I look forward to competing in Sectionals,” Gladstone said.
