Rivals Rye Country Day School and Holy Child met on the Gryphons’ home soccer turf on October 18, with the Wildcats coming out on top, 2-0.

Holy Child Coach Peter Haley credited RCDS with doing a great job of limiting his team’s scoring opportunities. Haley said he was impressed by the play of RCDS center back Sarah Brodwulf and center midfielder Liz Judd.

RCDS Coach Alin Andrei said he was pleased with the way the Wildcats moved the ball in the second half, resulting in two goals. Zoe Kost scored on an assist by Judd and Sammy Friedwald scored on an assist from Sophie Brown.

Rye Country Day finished the season with a record of 14-2-1, making them the top seed in NYSAISAA. The team hosts Dalton in the quarterfinals at 1 p.m. Saturday.
