SCHOOLS-NEWYEARMilton School kindergarten students and staff members celebrated their recent studies of Chinese New Year customs with a traditional dragon parade. Each kindergarten class designed and made two dragons, learning that dragon parades are said to bring good luck. As the kindergarteners made their way through the halls, they chanted “Gung Hay Fat Choy,” which translates to, “Welcome to the year of the horse!” All of the students at Milton came out to see the parade and cheer on the younger children, most of whom wore red, the lucky color of the Chinese New Year.

Upon returning to their classrooms, the kindergarteners enjoyed special snacks, including clementines, as another Chinese New Year tradition.
