And the winner of Rye Neck’s 8th annual logo contest is sophomore Christina Fraioli. Christina’s design whimsically captured the fair’s “Up, Up and Away” theme, showing the school mascot being swept up, much like the community, in school pride. Her design was chosen by Superintendent Dr. Peter Mustich from among some 40 submissions.
“I was so excited to enter the contest and when I found out I had won, I was completely surprised,” she admitted.
“Ever since I was little, I’ve had a crayon in my hand,” said Christina, whose mother was a cartoon illustrator. Christina is currently enrolled in Studio Art and Ceramics.
The fact that hers was the only entry demonstrating the Rye Neck panther going up with the balloons paid off. Christina was presented with a framed certificate of appreciation and a $100 American Express gift card.
Six other Rye Neck High School students were commended for their thoughtful and illustrative designs with $15 gift cards. The runners-up were seniors Daniela Aguilar and Elizabeth Maffei; junior Grace Tito; sophomores Dylan Haugenes and Eddie Gibbs; and sixth graders Grace West and Marin Endo with a combination submission.
In the meantime, the community can look forward to old favorites and exciting additions at the fair, co-chaired by Jeanne Baio and Katherine Chaffin, on the Middle/High School campus April 5.
A lot of supporters will no doubt be wearing t-shirts with Christina’s design.
