In a rain-shortened track meet with Harrison and Alexander Hamilton April 7, Rye Neck showed early-season promise on an exceedingly dismal day. As Coach Matthew Wurtz put it, “The meet was still successful, even with the weather. Harrison was super strong as always and Hamilton, though not at full strength, can be very tough as well.”
He cited the Panthers’ 4×800 meter relay unit of Mikael Bucknavage, Connor Sexton, Bram Wallowitz, and Luis Ferreria, who lapped their opponents. “Ryan O’Day also ran well, as did Matt Gisin, Cayla Vinzons, and Takuno Nishimura.”
With less than a full slate of races run thanks to a cloudburst in the middle of the meet — and with the Huskies dominating the field events — Harrison led Rye Neck overall with Hamilton third.
The Black Cats will visit Port Chester April 23.
