Rye Park Neighborhood Schism Continues While Awaiting City Decision
The following letter was sent to the City Council and the Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Committee and forwarded to us by the author for publication.
Our neighborhood group was recently informed by Andrea Sullivan, president of the Rye Country Day School Board of Trustees, that while Headmaster Scott Nelson previously participated in the Rye Park “Steering Committee” discussions (along with several members of our own group, before disillusion set in), now that it is clear that there is no consensus regarding the street closures or other potential traffic actions in our neighborhood, Rye Country Day is officially taking a neutral stance on these issues, pending the City’s decision.
I wanted to make sure you are aware of this development since the Steering Committee continues to claim — at least to some of us — that Rye Country Day is supportive of their efforts, but that is no longer the case.
Thank you.
