For the second summer in a row, School of the Holy Child is partnering with Successful Study Skills 4 Students (S4) to offer summer study skills workshops for local middle and high school students. The workshops will be held August 20–23 from 10 a.m.–12:30 p.m. at Holy Child’s Rye campus, 2225 Westchester Avenue.
“We are excited to return to School of the Holy Child, and are very proud and gratified from the feedback from last year’s workshops from both students and parents,” said S4 President Michelle Sagalyn. “Whether students are facing a transition into middle or high school, or just looking to improve their overall academic experience, we know that the S4 program offers tools and strategies supportive of students’ success in school.”
Designed and customizable to dovetail with school curriculum, the S4 program is based on educational research and taught by accredited teachers. Students enrolled in summer study skills workshops will learn ten easy-to-implement skills essential for successful learning and studying. These include: goal setting, time management, note taking methods, the importance of asking questions, active reading strategies, understanding main ideas and important details, using pictures and graphic organizers, summarizing to learn, notebook organization, and test preparation strategies.
Workshops are limited to 15 students and the fee is $395. S4 will supply all materials, including a take-home folder featuring the entire outline of the workshop and other material for parental support. For more information, call 203-307-5455 or e-mail info@SuccessfulStudySkills4Students.com.
