The Burke Rehabilitation Center is offering a free workshop, May 11 from 11 a.m.- 12:15 p.m., on the benefits of Tai Chi for Parkinson’s sufferers. The workshop will be held at Burke’s Sports Center, Building 4, on the 785 Mamaroneck Avenue campus in White Plains. Participants will learn a simple 3 Movement form that will help improve balance, strength, and flexibility.
Studies have shown that those with Parkinson’s do better with a combination of Tai Chi and other forms of exercise. Tai Chi is beneficial for those seeking an alternative to medication. It helps with chronic pain, anxiety, depression, and sleeplessness. At the workshop, participants will practice breathing and relaxation techniques and receive home study materials.
