The Great Escape — Fall Fashions
Feature and photography by Kicki Storm
As the long days of summer shorten and crisp breezes and cooler temperatures come our way, we welcome fall tones. Along with the new season, come different trends and colors. We put together a collection of fashions from local retailers to give you some inspiration. Even if you can’t escape this season, you can find escape through fashion.
Lifestyles are changing, as do trends. Bold geometric shapes, jersey fabrics, asymmetrical tops and dresses, jewel tones, army green, burnt–orange, high–waisted pants, paper bag pants, skinny jeans updated with a little bit of edginess, with some classics thrown in are of the moment.
In our “boots on the ground” shot, the gang sports biker boots with romantic, flowing dresses, instantly adding a bit of toughness for that cool downtown look. Along with that solid feet–on–the–ground vibe, both men and women need a comfortable fashion sneaker to pair with anything, and a pair of good Chelsea boots.
Men’s basics start with fresh white and gray T–shirts. Add plaid shirts, bomber jackets, quilted jackets, down sweaters, drawstring pants in military green, and something that says, “That’s my style”, like a beret and scarf to tie it all together.
Continue the creativity with unconventional pairings such as sport coats and cool sneakers. Women can jazz up jeans with a Western influence of studs and snakeskin boots. Or go for a more refined look in black and white tones, leather and silk with a red sweater for contrast. And don’t overlook the daisy flower, which is still popping up everywhere.
The list is long, and the inspirations divine. Choose what’s right for you and work it...be it for your Zoom call, backyard affair, or out on the town. Whether you are social distancing or hanging at home, make it fashionable and fun. Whatever the occasion calls for, wear it with confidence.
