Milton School second graders recently set sail on Long Island Sound to cap off their Oceanography unit.
The group boarded the schooner SoundWaters at Mamaroneck Harbor for the yearly trip. SoundWaters is the flagship for the eponymous environmental education program based in Stamford. The organization is devoted to protecting the Sound.

Milton teachers Mrs. Havlin, Mrs. Ridely, and Mrs. Taddeo teamed up with trip leader Dayna Reist to get the students onboard. The children identified and handled a variety of crabs, including the always impressively repulsive horseshoe crab.
