SPRYE, Rye’s newly-formed aging in place organization, held its first members’ event, a guided tour of the Donald Kendall Sculpture Gardens at PepsiCo’s headquarters in Purchase, followed by lunch at the nearby Full Moon Trattoria.
The group enjoyed the opportunity to learn about many of the 45 works by major 20th-century artists in the collection. While viewing sculptures in the courtyard area, the group was fortunate to meet Donald Kendall, the former Pepsi Chairman and CEO, whose vision, some 40 years ago, was to create a museum without walls for employees and the public to enjoy. He is a firm believer that art stimulates creativity in business. Mr. Kendall told the group he was happy visitors are still enjoying the gardens designed by Russell Page.
In the coming weeks, SPRYE will take visitors to the Bruce Museum in Greenwich and the Clay Arts Center in Port Chester.
