We have the opportunity to elect a Rye resident to Congress who, for 15 years, has a proven track record of fighting and delivering results for our community. Catherine Parker served on the Rye City Council for six years and has been our representative in the Westchester County Legislature for the past nine years. During that time, she has faithfully advocated for our interests and brought millions in aid to our city to deal with flood mitigation and other much-needed projects.
Our current Congressman, Jamaal Bowman, has shown little interest in Rye or our Congressional District 16, the district he’s now looking to represent. He’s demonstrated more interest in advancing his political profile with “the Squad” than in real progress and democratic values. He does not represent our voice. He voted against the infrastructure bill, voted against the Abraham accords (the peace treaty supported by Israel, Palestinians, and Arab nations), and even voted against aid to Ukraine.
Catherine will work collaboratively as she has done for 15 years, always working across the aisle, to get things done. She will fight for women’s reproductive rights, for gun safety, and to combat climate change. She will work to reinstate the SALT deduction for homeowners — something Bowman has not done. She will bring federal dollars to Rye and Westchester for much-needed projects, especially when it comes to flood mitigation — again, something our current Congressman has failed to do.
We pay enough taxes. We deserve to benefit from them.
While Vedat Gashi, the third Democratic candidate, resides in Yorktown, Catherine lives in Congressional District 16.
With the threat of more storms like Ida devastating our community, women’s reproductive rights being taken away, and more and more school shootings around the country, it is imperative that we elect Catherine Parker to Congress.
Every registered Democrat must vote in the primary on August 23rd. (If you will be away, get your absentee ballot now or vote early!) Please urge everyone you know who lives in Congressional District 16, which includes Rye, Harrison, Port Chester, Mamaroneck, Larchmont, Scarsdale, and New Rochelle, to vote.
