After winning their first four games, the Wildcats are off to a great start.
Rye Country Day won its season opener on home ice November 28 against Canterbury, 4-3. It marked the first time in over a decade that the girls’ hockey team defeated this rival. Senior Rose Rather scored two goals and two assists for the win. Wildcat goalie Rebecca Mendelsohn, also a senior, had 31 saves. Last week, the Wildcats beat Pingry, 10-1.
Over the weekend, Rye Country Day won the Princeton Day School Holiday Tournament for a fifth consecutive year, defeating Princeton Day School, 5-1, in the championship game. Rather, once again, scored twice with two assists. Jamie Siwensky, Charlotte Fleishman, and Ciara Clare each scored goals for the tournament win. Mendelsohn made 14 saves.
They were set to play Greenwich Academy at Chelsea Piers post-deadline.
