Rye Country Day’s girls’ lacrosse team gave it their all, but were knocked out of the State tournament in the semi-finals on Monday.

The Wildcats lost 16-14 to third-seeded Long Island Lutheran despite outscoring their opponents, 10-8, in the second half.

Emily Duarte played one of the best games of her career, scoring six goals. Two of her other shots hit the rim of the goal.

Julia Massaro, Clare McClintock, Stephanie Sabatini, Ruby Aresty, and Yana Lee all played well in the second half. But their offensive surge, combined with goaltender Charlotte Fleishman’s critical saves, were not enough.
