Zeppoleme, the first-of-its-kind Italian coffee and zeppole shop in Westchester, opened this week in Port Chester.
Co-owned by Marc Tessitore and Robert Squeri, the shop at 321 North Main Street sells breakfast, lunch and dinner panini, salads, soups, gluten-free cereal, and sweet and savory zeppole — delicious little Italian doughnuts with dipping sauce — and wine, as well as coffee.
Diners can eat in or order food to go. The striking design resembles an authentic yet modern coffee shop in Italy. The shop, which has teamed up with Stumptown Coffee, is located next to Tessitore’s popular Nessa restaurant.
“Our zeppole are to die for,” Tessitore said with pride. “We fold in ricotta cheese and offer different dipping sauces — buttercream, hazelnut nutella, caramel, or lemon glaze. Of course, we offer traditional zeppole with granulated or cinnamon sugar.”
