5 Steps to Five Announces Luncheon,
And It Sells Out in Two Days
Rye has its fair share of active not-for-profits. Nearly all of them depend on special events to help raise needed funds. 5 Steps to Five, now in its fourth year, is the new kid on the block, and has never held such an event. On October 17 that will change.
Two weeks ago, its board of directors announced a special luncheon at American Yacht Club, hoping to fill, perhaps 90 seats. Surprise! Within two days, all seats had been sold – plus orders for that many again. The Yacht Club has opened up two adjacent rooms to allow for the overflow.
Why this remarkable show of interest? Executive Director Lisa Field feels many things are at work. First, word is beginning to get out on how this parent/early child education program in Port Chester has grown. “Lots of people in Rye seem to know that but don’t know a whole lot about the program itself. This luncheon is a chance to meet some of the people behind the program and learn more about what makes it special. Secondly, we’ve gathered a large, energetic committee that values the importance of 5 Steps to Five and wants to help our neighboring community.”
