A Win-Win Experience

When Rye Country Day hosted the Staten Island Academy varsity soccer team in the first round of the NYSAIS Tournament this fall, their thoughts were on more than the game.

oncerned about the devastating effects that Hurricane Sandy had on the Staten Island community, the Wildcats boys’ and girls’ soccer players and their parents conducted a special food drive in the days leading up to the tournament. They presented a feast of donations to the Staten Island Academy team prior to the match.

 

Although the first round of the tournament resulted in a Rye Country Day win, the entire experience was win for both communities.
