The Rye Y celebrated three outstanding volunteers and raised funds for its Y Care
Financial Assistance Program at its annual benefit on Saturday, June 3 at Harrison Meadows Country Club. Everyone raised a glass to former board members Courtney Bennett and Frances DeThomas, who received the Gold Spirit Award, and Barbara Brunner, who received the Community Service Award.
The event featured a live auction led by Christie’s auctioneer Joey Quigley, and entertainment by Eric Dittelman, a finalist on the hit TV show “America’s Got Talent”, who “mystified and amazed” the crowd with apparent mindreading skills. The three honorees included
Through Y Cares, the Rye Y provides camp, childcare, membership, and program subsidies, ensuring that <everyone> can experience all the Y has to offer regardless of their ability to pay. Y Cares also supports programs that are offered free of charge to the community, including LIVESTRONG at the YMCA for cancer survivors and Safety Around Water, a drowning prevention initiative for young children.
