At the next City Council meeting, March 28, discussion of an infrastructure bond will be on the agenda. Mayor Doug French and the Council have made no secret of the fact that, without a bond, critical repairs to streets, sidewalks, and sewers cannot be made, at least in this budget year.
Mayor French had hoped to include the creation of additional parking in the bond — perhaps another level for merchant parking in the City-owned Highland lot or tiered parking in Car Park 5, below CVS on Purdy Avenue.
“I don’t think there is a communitywide appetite for both safety repairs to infrastructure and new downtown parking at this point in time,” the Mayor acknowledged.”
