Former police co-workers and friends gathered for a dinner last month honoring Bay Constable Lieutenant Andrew Landau, who recently retired from a 26-year career in Marine Law enforcement.
Former police co-workers and friends gathered for a dinner last month honoring Bay Constable Lieutenant Andrew Landau, who recently retired from a 26-year career in Marine Law enforcement.
Lt. Landau began his career with the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department in 1985 as a Bay Constable. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant and Commanding Officer before retiring in 2005. But his retirement was short-lived; the same year he was hired by the City of Rye Police Department as a Bay Constable Marine Law Enforcement Officer, serving with the City of Rye until the fall of 2011.
“There is not one person in this room that Andy has not extended his assistance, knowledge, and friendship to,” said Gary Olivier, former Commanding Officer of the Rye Police Marine Unit, and the evening’s organizer. “He taught us all to work together in the Sound Shore jurisdictions and was instrumental in melding the marine Patrol Units from Stamford to New York City as a cohesive group.”
Rye Police Marine Unit Commanding Officer Julio Rossi presented Lt. Landau with a plaque for his exemplary service. “Andy was instrumental in making these units what they are today. We’re proud of you and proud of what these officers do every day to protect the boating public,” said Officer Rossi.
Also recognized at the dinner was Rye Bay Constable Bruce Caldwell for 30 years of service to Port Chester and Rye residents.
