Leone Larsen Cox, a nearly 60-year resident of Rye, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2018. She was 95 years old.
She was born on February 10, 1923 in Mount Pleasant, Utah. She graduated from the University of Utah where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music and was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
As a young woman she was a United Airlines stewardess. In 1961, she and her husband, B. G. Cox, moved to Rye, where they raised their three children.
She was a member of Apawamis Club and American Yacht Club and, for the past eight years, Westchester Country Club, where she resided. Mrs. Cox was also a member of The Twig Organization, which raised funds for United Hospital in Port Chester.
Mrs. Cox is survived by her children, Anne Cox Zahringer of New York City, Karen Cox Mandy of Rye, and Robert H. Cox of Marco Island, Fla.; as well as seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service and a celebration of life will be held at Rye Presbyterian Church Saturday, April 7 at 1 p.m. A reception will follow at American Yacht Club.
