The community came out for a first look at the Meeting House September 24. The sunset party celebrated the completion of the first phase of the exterior rehabilitation.
New Arrival in the Sullivan Family
As the family of Ken Sullivan of Sullivan Opticians marks the two-year anniversary of his passing, they are pleased to announce the birth of his first grandchild, Kenneth Gregory Fischer, September 1. He weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces. He is the son of Heather and Greg Fischer of Redding, Connecticut. His maternal grandmother, Susan Sullivan, lives in Somers; his paternal grandparents are Betty and Harry Fischer of Toms River, N.J.

Culkin Brothers as American as Stars and Stripes
A proud mother isn’t anything new, but longtime Rye resident Jane Culkin is doubly proud. Her sons, Donald and David, are both serving our country.
Captain Donald E. Culkin Jr., US Coast Guard, has recently assumed command of US Coast Guard Base, Elizabeth City, N.C. He is a 1987 graduate of the United States Coast Guard Academy.
Lt. Colonel David T. Culkin, US Army, is a military strategist temporarily deployed in Afghanistan. He is also an assistant professor at United States Army Command & General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, Kans. He is a 1991 graduate of the United States Military Academy.
Donald and David are the sons of Jane Culkin of Rye, and Donald E. Culkin of Sarasota, Fla.
Births
Steven and Jacqueline Mazzilli announce the birth of a daughter, Alessia Jeannine Mazzilli, August 19 at Greenwich Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces. Alessia joins big sisters Annabella, 7, and Gianna, 5.
She is the granddaughter of Angelo and Rosann Mazzilli of East Northport, N.Y., and Geraldine Muoio and the late William Muoio of Rochester, N.Y.
Joy and Daniel Posner announce the birth of a daughter, Allison Taylor Posner, August 31 at White Plains Hospital Center. She weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces. Allison joins sister Abigail, age 5, and Andrew Ian, 1.
She is the granddaughter of Mary and Luke Vaccaro of Scarsdale, and the late Suzanne and Ira Posner of Armonk.
Engagements
Hawkins – Lorenz
John and Sherron Hawkins of Durham, N.C., formerly of Rye, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Alison Lyn, to Geoffrey Christopher Lorenz, the son of Polly Johnson and the stepson of Bill Johnson of Asheville, N.C.
The couple met in 2006 in Manhattan through a mutual friend, and both currently reside in Alexandria, Va.
After graduating from Rye High School, the bride-to-be graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and will graduate this December with a B.S. in Nursing from Marymount University in Arlington, Va.
The future bridegroom received his undergraduate degree from Duke University and his J.D. from George Washington University. He is currently employed as an associate attorney for the law firm of Hunton & Williams in Washington, D.C.
A September 2012 wedding is planned.
