Neil Groglio, of Westport, Conn., died August 10, 2019 at the age of 65, surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Rye, New York, he was the son of Theresa and Gerald Groglio.
After graduating from Rye High School, he went on to Pace University. In his working life, Mr. Groglio founded and operated a number of small businesses.
In 1983, he met the love of his life, Marcia. For the next 35 years, they took turns telling one another how lucky they felt to have found one another. In 1993, the Groglios joyfully welcomed a daughter, Kelly, and for the next 26 years Neil wholeheartedly dedicated himself to the role of dad, in addition to devoted husband.
Neil Groglio was many things to many people: an accomplished entrepreneur, an avid golfer, a big Beatles fan, a Jets fanatic, a mentor to many, a coach of kids, an animal lover, a caring friend, an insightful individual, a truly wonderful husband, an inspiring father, and an even better dad. A man of humble greatness, he was down-to-earth and impressive at the same time. Those who knew him best often marveled at his wit and work ethic. His strong sense of integrity, good humor, and decisive nature led him to achieve tremendous success in life.
“Neil never reveled in the material, but rather celebrated the simple joys — a beautiful view, shooting under par, a warm fire in the open night air, the company of good friends,” said his family. “He loved to bring people together, encouraging all to enjoy good times with good people. He lived his life exactly how he wanted to, or in the words of Frank Sinatra, ‘I did it my way…’”
In addition to his wife Marcia and daughter Kelly, he is survived by his sister Kathy, his godchildren, Lauren and Johnny, his nephew CJ, and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Gerald Jr.
A memorial service was held September 7 at Church of the Resurrection in Rye.
