A fishing trip to Montana was also a chance for Jay Mahoney to spot and photograph wildlife, which he does passionately, respectfully. He reported that it took him four days to catch a fish as big as one caught by an osprey he came upon at Idaho Falls!
From the sequence of photos, it appears that even for a magnificent raptor, going fishing doesn’t always mean an easy catch. Mahoney told us that he watched as the osprey dove and caught the fish. “It then sat in the water before trying to take off with it. It tried three times before it could get into the air.”
