Tara Goldman
Tara McGowan Goldman, 58, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2018.
Born in 1960 in Hartsdale, N.Y., she was the daughter of Elizabeth and Dr. Martin McGowan.
She attended The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, and was a member of the class of 1982 of Trinity College in Washington D.C. After college, she remained in Washington, becoming an ad executive at J. Walter Thompson. She later moved to Rye, New York, and spent many years as a market analyst at London and Leeds.
In 1992, she married Jay Goldman at Coveleigh Club in Rye. The couple moved to Saratoga Springs. They summered in Saratoga and wintered in Lake Worth, Florida.
An active golf and tennis player, she won multiple championships in both sports at Candlewood Lake Club in New Milford, Conn. She was also an accomplished shuffleboard player who was inducted into the Florida Shuffleboard Hall of Fame in 2017.
In addition to her husband, Jay Goldman, she is survived by her siblings, Martin McGowan of Seattle, Christopher McGowan (Andrea) of Cincinnati, Virginia Gray (William) of Stamford, James McGowan (Lauren) of Rye, and Leanne LaFond (Kevin) of Cornwall Bridge, Conn.; as well as sisters-in-law, Sondra (Goldman) and David Silverhart of Saratoga Springs and Carole (Goldman) Siegel of Pittsfield, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated September 21 at St. Clement’s Church in Saratoga Springs.
