On August 1, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Rye Police officers traveled to Ramapo Police Headquarters to pick up 25-year-old Qasim Muhammed of Newark, New Jersey, on an open bench warrant. Muhammed had failed to appear for a court appearance in Rye stemming from a 2022 felony arrest there for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Muhammed was transported to Rye Police Headquarters, processed, and charged with Bail Jumping in the 2nd degree. He was then arraigned in Rye City Court and held on $2,500 cash bail at the Westchester County Correctional Facility.
The next day, at around 7:58 p.m., RPD officers responded to a motor vehicle accident on Oakland Beach Avenue near Boston Post Road. William Wallace Haynes II, age 26, of Rye, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. All tickets issued to Haynes are returnable to the Rye City Court on August 22.
That same day, at approximately 8:50 p.m., officers responded to a report of an erratic driver traveling on Playland Parkway near the I-95 North ramp. Alexander Nikaj, age 40, of Yorktown Heights, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. All tickets issued to Nikaj are returnable to the Rye City Court on August 22.
And, on August 5, at 6:50 am, officers responded to a report of an irate customer at Hand Rolled Bagels on Purdy Avenue. The victim stated he had allowed the customer, identified as 26-year-old Bryce Allen of Hartford, to use the store phone. When the victim asked for the phone back, Allen became irate and threw the phone at the victim, and reportedly struck him in the head with a closed fist. Allen was placed under arrest and transported to Rye Police Headquarters for processing. He is due back in Rye City Court on August 22.
